Just an update...

Well friends...

Winter is on the way here. Rain mixed with snow tonight and tomorrow. To some that is good news! Really it is.

What has been happening the last couple of weeks you ask?

I have been through a lot of ups and downs. It all started with a relationship issue that really knocked me for a loop. I know... I know... I have been having a lot of relationship issues lately. That is what occurred to me anyway.

I suddenly realized that I have had a similar experience with pretty much everyone I have served in a leadership role with in the last year and a half. I have had people blow-up in anger at me.

The first time that it happened, I thought, "Boy, that was uncalled for."
The second time it happened, I thought, "What is going on?"
The third time it happened, I thought, "Wow, how come these things keep happening to me? Maybe I attract trouble..."
It only took 4 times and a year and a half to realize... "Wait a minute... maybe it is me!"

God gave me a good look at myself... and it hurt... and it broke me...

And in the midst of it all, God is calling me to a deeper commitment and relationship with Him, and greater responsibilities (which for me right now is a little confusing).

Right now my greatest desire is to be done with me and have more of Him in every area of my life. As a husband, father, son, brother, friend, leader, employee... follower of Christ... I want me out of the way, and replaced with God.

I feel a bit like I imagine Solomon felt when he asked God for wisdom. I imagine that he was at the end of himself as the realization of the responsibility that now rested on him was. God offered him anything, and all he could ask for was wisdom... which I believe in essence was "less of me and more of You, God."

What else...

I got a new job! I am now a web designer at the same company. I will be starting that soon, and I am really excited!

My Grandma is getting married on Saturday!

My son turns 2 at the end of the month.

I was finally able to get out hunting for the first time this year.

My fantasy football team is undefeated so far.

Bills seem extra big this month... or are the paychecks getting less?

Lots of exciting things are happening at church these days (I will have more on that soon.)

Looks like I get to preach soon.
