"God's will is something that every believer must be concerned about. After all, Jesus was very specific as to how we should pray, "...Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Yet, every believer struggles at times with the question, "Am I in God's will?" Praying is one thing. Experiencing is another.
King David is one example in Scripture where God's will "happened" in a seemingly purposeful way. Whether succeeding (chosen from among his brothers, defeating Goliath, escaping Saul's schemes) or failing (immorality, murder, numbering Israel), God's will continued marching on...in and through David. We know that David's heart after God was central to God demonstrating His mercy. But more that that, it pleased God to fulfill His promises...a seed (Jesus the son of David) that would bruise the serpent's head ...the tabernacle of David as a type of the church.
Apparently, God's will is not so much dependent on our performance but rather on our willingness to yield to His purpose. What is His purpose at this point in your life? Writing to the Ephesians, Paul states it generally. "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will, that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ." Ephesians 1:11-12 Particularly, our prayer (Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven) will cause us to yield to His purpose. "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ...may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power." Ephesians 1:17-19
Receive this word today. The Lord would say to you, "Do not let the enemy trap you based on your success or failure. You are predestined. You are chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world. Your faith has caused you to be accepted in the Beloved. You have been sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. You have been raised up and made to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. You are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. As you have yielded to God's will, again yield through prayer. God's will is marching on...in and through you. Yield to him! You have been reserved by God for this time to demonstrate his glory as part of his church. Do not underestimate your role! Connect to others who are yielding to his will. Identify those who are yielding rather than pursuing their own agendas. Connect with them. This is how and where God's will is being done!"
